FAQ

Where is the office located?

3 Cleveland Court, Suite E
Greenville, SC 29607

How long are the appointments?

If you are coming for an individual session, the appointment is 55-57 minutes. This gives me a few minutes in between appointments to do all the things – grab a snack, use the restroom, and make a quick phone call. This way, I can be 100% focused on you during your time.

Couples sessions vary depending on the stage of treatment and are either 55 or 85 minutes.

How much does it cost?
$120 per hour, intake appointments are $175 due to the time and paperwork involved outside of the 55-minute session. At this time, all of my sliding-scale spaces are occupied.
Do you take insurance?

I am currently an in-network provider with Aetna, BlueCross/BlueShield, Cigna, and Optum/United.

Do you take credit cards?
Yes, I accept Visa, Mastercard, Venmo, Zelle, and HSA cards.
What are the hours of operation?
The office hours are by appointment, but I have appointments available Monday through Thursday during the day and in the late afternoon/early evening.
How do I make an appointment?

There are several ways to get in touch with me – either to schedule a free 20-minute consultation (which many clients like to do) or to schedule a first appointment:

  • Call or text me at (864) 659-2526. Please feel free to leave a message or send a text if I’m unavailable. I will return your call by the end of the day.
  • Email me at ashley@gvlcounseling.com.
  • Fill out the Contact Form at the bottom of the page, and I will get in touch with you within 24 hours.

If you’re ready to get started, let’s book that consultation now!

What is your cancellation policy?

I kindly ask that you provide me with at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Any cancellations less than 24 hours or “no-shows” will be charged the full session fee.

With whom do you work?
Anyone three years of age or older! I work with individuals, couples, and families.
What happens at the first appointment?

The first appointment gives you a chance to get more comfortable. This is also an opportunity for me to get to know you, what some of your concerns and problem areas are, and what you might want to work on in therapy. It’s also an opportunity for you to get to know me. It’s important that you feel that your therapist is a good fit for you, so there will be plenty of time for you to ask me questions, too!

What kind of therapy do you offer?

I will tailor treatment specifically for you and your comfort level.

I have training in several modalities, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Gottman Method Couples Counseling, and Play Therapy (ages 3-10).

I also use a variety of strategies, including mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, guided relaxation, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

Where did you get your degree?
I received my master’s degree in counseling from Clemson University.
How often do I need to come to therapy?
Clients typically start out by coming to therapy once a week, then tapering down as they experience progress toward their treatment goals.
What do I need to bring?
An open mind and an open heart! I’ll have everything else you may need. If you’ve been coming for a bit, you might have a homework assignment to bring once in a while.
